What diehard member of Red Sox Nation hasn’t fantasized about taking the mound at Fenway Park?
MORE Advertising Founder and CEO Donna Latson Gittens – a lifelong Sox disciple and team savant – realized every baseball fan’s dream on May 1. Donna had the crazy cool honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the Sox game against the Baltimore Orioles.
It all started in January when Red Sox President Sam Kennedy, speaking at MORE’s 20th Anniversary Business Breakfast, announced Donna as the game’s “starting pitcher.”
Sam graciously cited Donna’s help back in 2002 in acclimating the then-new Sox ownership group to the Boston community. Over the next 15 seasons, Donna has also served as the official “pitcher” for the Red Sox Charitable Foundation and its generous support and work throughout New England.
At the MORE Business Breakfast, Sam and the Sox literally brought the crowd to its feet by declaring May 1 as MORE Advertising Night at Fenway and handing out two game tickets to each guest.
PS: For her ceremonial pitch at Fenway Donna delivered some “serious heat” to catcher Heath Embree who gave her the game ball. The fans went wild!
