Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Addiction Services, Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office

Reporting an opioid overdose once resulted in an arrest, trial, and jail time. The revised Good Samaritan Law in Massachusetts now protects 911 callers from prosecution, but many people either weren’t aware or didn’t believe it. Running media where overdoses are more apt to happen—street corners, restrooms, phone kiosks—we reached the primary audience where they live … and too often die. The message explained the new law, implored them to visit the landing page, and “Make the Right Call” to 911 emergency services.
